To ensure a document is "for your eyes only", you can protect it with a password.
Note - if you need to password protect a different file, like a PDF, please follow this guide instead: How to password protect a file
First, create a new document as normal.
Then, go to File -> Info, and click Protect Document. From this menu, pick Encrypt with Password.
You will be prompted to enter a password, and then repeat it. Make sure it's secure and memorable.
If you lose your password, there is no way to recover the document. So, be careful!
After this, you can save the document as normal. When opening it again, you'll be prompted for that same password.
