The Authenticator app is required for every user. When logging in from outside one of the main C&K offices, an MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) code will be needed to log into Office 365.
If you have a work's mobile, Authenticator can usually be found on your phone's home screen. If you can't see the above icon, swipe up from the home screen to open the App Drawer, and look for Authenticator. Users without a work's mobile can install Microsoft Authenticator from the Play Store.
You'll be prompted to set up MFA on first login. If not, follow this link: https://aka.ms/mfasetup
Follow the on-screen instructions to add your Office 365 account to the Microsoft Authenticator app, which will be preinstalled on your phone.
Now, when you log in from outside the building, you'll be prompted to accept a notification on your phone. Simply unlock your phone and confirm your login.
You'll also need to supply a mobile phone number. This number won't get passed onto anyone (not even us). For those with a work's mobile, you will have been given the number for your phone when you received it - if not, please get in touch with IT Support.
Now, when you log in from outside the building, you will receive a notification on your phone, asking to approve or deny your login request. If you are in an area without an Internet connection, you can instead click "try another method" and use a code from the app - this doesn't require a connection, and new codes will be generated every 30 seconds.
What if I don't have a smartphone, or otherwise can't use the Authenticator app?
When setting up MFA, there is an option which says "I want to use another method". From here, you can select 'Phone', and this will allow you to use your mobile phone number to authenticate.
Once again, this is not passed onto any third parties, and will only ever be used to approve logins to your C+K account.
